Hi! My name is Mike Dean and I am a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist. I completed both my Bachelor’s and
Master’s Degrees at Arizona State University and graduated with
my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2010. I
have been providing therapy for over 10 years to individuals,
couples, and families. Currently, I work with adults providing therapy
to both individuals and couples.
Since a young age, I have been curious about what leads to people
being who they are. This has led to me developing an approach to
therapy of being curious with you and guiding you along a process
of developing a better understanding of yourself, your relationships,
and why you might find yourself “stuck” in the same patterns
repeatedly that are leading to you wanting to make a change in
your life.
Playing drums and music has been an important aspect of my life and I enjoy listening to or creating
music as this brings some balance to my life. Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy going to concerts,
sporting events, and comedy shows. I always enjoy incorporating humor in therapy and connecting with
people on music or TV shows.
I am passionate about providing a safe space where people from all backgrounds can feel comfortable
and free of judgement. I feel that finding the right therapist who you connect with is crucial to therapy
being successful and will make every effort to connect with you on a human level to lay the foundation
to start the healing journey. I am also passionate about being a safe support for the LGBTQIA+
community. To help people heal from trauma, I primarily use Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and have also completed additional specialty training on treating
trauma-related dissociation using structural dissociation theory. I really enjoy working with couples and
utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples understand underlying emotional experiences
and experience new ways of interacting with one another.
